The majestic river in front of my home hit flood stage sometime late last night, and remains there today. Studio Milliscent is at least 15 feet above flood stage and my home is a couple of feet above that, so I will not experience any danger or difficulty from this event.
It is however extremely fascinating to watch. I've been living on or around Western Washington rivers all my adult life, and in this particular spot for some time now so I am quite used to seeing the river this high as it happens probably once every other year or so.
What's interesting is that this is my first spring flood, or freshet as the old timers say, old timers who insist that floods are what high water events in the fall and winter are called, freshet being the term for the same event in the spring.
In any event, it is odd. The river at flood stage while I am sunbathing above it in my thong bikini. Usually at such times it's raining so amazingly hard that one can't take time to truly look, to truly watch the amazing power of nature manifesting itself in this tremendous wall of water. It is a good and interesting experience, perhaps the only time I will see a true spring flood. Such an odd experience too, BBQ's going, lawns being mowed, people enjoying the sun while one of winters wonders runs it's course.
The snow will melt, then the river will rapidly loose it's volume. It will have changed from this event, I look forward to exploring next week, to noticing all of those changes.

It is a wonderful time of year, wait for the river to go down and grab a pan.
Seems you are in the silver creek, and monte cristo, buena vista area.
Spring floods un-cover fresh color, around here i wait with anticipation for the similkameen to go down...most likely about a
couple more weeks yet.
Word i hear is Idaho is getting hell from its rivers ( 200+ % snowpack and 90+ degrees) bad combination on the rivers.

Wow . You in a thong bikini, now that would be breath taking.
rebecca,
Yes indeed, there is gold in these hills. Never enough to make commercial ventures pay as I understand it though.
I believe I've read that gold builds up on the inside bends of rivers, alas I'm on an outside bend.
The river dropped below flood stage a couple of days ago, but it is still extremely high. No drought this year apparently.
here2serve,
Thank you! I'm pleased that you like the idea!
I have three bathing suits. Two thong bikinis one red one black, and one leopard print string bikini. The leopard print is worn when family is around the other two at all other times. The tan is so much better, plus, I must admit that I'm quite fond of my ass!
