Global Warming

Given the historical fact that all governments have, over time, sought to exercise greater and greater levels of control over their citizenry I think it is prudent for reasoning people to ask themselves:

Is human activity caused 'global warming' a fact as presented by various governments and government boosting organizations around the world or is it a handy myth seized upon by those governments and organizations in order to further restrict individual liberty?

Given the fact that it is snowing all around Puget Sound today, the 18th day of April, I think that the answer to that question is rather self evident.

Any student of geology will tell you that there have been periods of global cooling and warming for eons. In my opinion man is just arrogant to think that they can control the weather (and I have 3 inches in Snohomish county 6:00 pm)

I sent you an e-mail on this very topic, but here is a fun quote to boot.
" the fact is that {carbon dioxide} has no proven link to global temperatures. Solar activity is far more likely to be the culprit.
Ian Clark, University of Ottawa, from the Arizona Cattlelog april of 07.
Indeed you make a very good point, much of all this has been used to undermine our great republican system , as well as the endangered species act.
The worst part is the next generation is being totally brainwashed in our public schools with this crap.
25 degrees over hear this morning

littlec,

Yes indeed. That is why they taught us about ice ages as little children.

Natural temperature cycles though don't allow self interested groups to get grants, and government types to expand their jobs.

rebecca,

Agreed, almost 100%.

Don't worry too much about the children though. As they go through life they figure out that their teachers didn't know everything!

Yes, and it's also obvious that something as tiny as the HIV virus could never kill a human being.

anonymous,

HIV is a fact. A dreaded disease that has destroyed countless lives.

Human activity caused global warming is a theory.

I think the analogy is a bit off.

On a personal level, I do all I can to protect and preserve our environment. Given my homes location, I consider the environmental impact of all I do.

That does not however translate into a blind acceptance as fact a theory pushed by individuals and groups who stand to benefit financially and otherwise by the widespread acceptance of that theory.

I do believe that this theory will eventually be proven incorrect by the march of time, just as wildly popular theories that the entire world would face mass starvation in the 1970s due to overpopulation were proven incorrect by the march of time.

I am however willing to admit that I could be wrong about this. I can be wrong and still cause no harm because I already take the steps I can to lessen my personal impact upon our shared planet.

I wonder how many who push this particular theory can say that they do the same in their personal lives.

HIV is a virus, not a fact.

You believe medical researchers, whose record is not all that sterling, (take a look at the use of radium water to treat manifold illnesses and symptoms back in the 1920's), but you automatically distrust atmospheric scientists. You know, there are some people, such as the president of South Africa, who question the relationship between HIV and AIDS. How much public money has heen poured into AIDS research; how many careers have been built up using this money? And how much money did the tobacco industry spend on suppressing unfavorable medical research?

"I wonder how many who push this particular theory can say that they do the same in their personal lives."

Impugning their character, perhaps?
Calling them hypocrites?

anonymous,

Yes, you are precisely correct. My comment was specifically intended to imply that anyone who advocates for new laws or regulations intended to protect our shared environment, but who does not practice good environmental stewardship in their own personal lives is a hypocrite.

Stewardship of our earth, to be effective must begin at home.

With that said, I must leave this exchange now and return to what is the primary focus of this blog, the wonders of female domination in it's myriad of forms.
