Blogger

Today alone I noticed two blog links that opened up like this.

I wonder if Blogger has decided to begin shutting down blogs that discuss alternative sexual practices?

If this blog is ever turned off by Blogger, it will be reborn and it will always be able to be found via link from my website Milliscent.com. Find me there, don't let some corporation keep you from your daily dose of Milliscent!

Milliscent-

I don't think it's blogger that is doing this.

I know of a handful of purported 'FemDom' blogs which have recently announced that they will either go private, or shut down.

In all cases, that was the screen one received upon seeking the blog.

It just seems to be blogger's message for informing you someone has shut down operations.

saratoga,

I hope that you are right.

Just in case though, I have been looking at software which would reside on my own servers as I'd hate to loose what I've built here.

Currently I'm playing with Movable Type, it looks mighty good.

Blogger will remove blogs if they get enough complaints. There is a huge problem with bogus blogs that are just leads to porn sites and Google/Blogger doesn't have the staff to properly police the situation.

Not that some people don't just quit.

I've used Movable Type for many years and have been very happy with it. I have used WordPress as well it is also fine.

richard,

Thank you for letting me know about your experience with Movable Type.

So far I am pleased with it.

Blogger is however more user friendly in my opinion, so I will likely stay here for some time to come.

A free hosted blog on wordpress.com is another possibility should Blogger get silly. Hopefully they'll never get as silly as Yahoo which used to wipe out personal accounts and clubs without warning or discernible reason.

If you don't already you might want to start downloading a back-up of your posts (it is somewhere in the Blogger dashboard) in case you ever get zapped. Wordpress and Movable Type can both import the Blogger entries.

richard,

Thank you so much for this comment. You are my hero now!

I thought that I was going to have to import everything into a new blog by hand if I decided to leave. Your comment inspired me to read the Movable Type docs, and I did indeed learn how to import what I have here.
